About the role

This position works in a small health team based at Roebourne Reginal Prison situated between the towns of Roebourne and Wickham approximately 35 kms north of the City of Karratha and 1570 kms north of Perth.

The prisoner population is mainly Aboriginal, from towns locally and throughout the Pilbara and Kimberley regions. The prison acts as a receival centre for the region with long term accommodation for medium/minimum male and female offenders.

Working in a primary care setting, this role provides primary and chronic health care to offenders in custody at Roebourne Regional Prison. There is a keen focus on patient autonomy, health education, health promotion and rehabilitation. This role is suited to a motivated and engaged Clinical Nurse who has an interest or qualification in Aboriginal health.

About you

  • Have current registration as Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrate exceptional clinical skills with recent experience in acute or primary care settings.
  • Be committed to building and maintaining productive working relationships to contribute to a cohesive team culture.
  • Have excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Be self-directed.
  • Be computer literate (electronic health records).
  • Previous experience working in Aboriginal health care settings is beneficial.
  • All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
